Week 10 Assignment #3

DIBELS AND QRI5

DIBELS and QRI5 are assessments to identify students’ level and make sure they are succeeding in their literacy skills.  They help determine strengths and weaknesses of students and recommend paths for interventions.
There are some differences between the two assessments:

The QRI5 it’s an overall general assessment to determine the students reading level. They help students recognize words and therefore comprehend what they read.  The assessment materials are for grades K-12.
DIBELS is more specific assessment.  It assesses phonemic awareness, alphabetical principle, fluency, vocabulary, comprehension skills and more.  It is used for grades K-6.

In conclusion, both assessments provide the ability for teacher and students to reach their goals and become fluent readers!
